The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Top Channel that there are about 400 Albanians in China, among them 60 students and others believed to be in employment. So far, it is stressed that there are no Albanians affected by the deadly virus that has alarmed China and the world, but Albanian teachers and students are calling for help.
One teacher is reported to have contacted Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, who says:
"With my nine friends we live in Changchun Province, Jilin. We work as teachers of English. We haven't been out of the house for four days. We are completely isolated. We feel very at risk and in need. If the Albanian state can help us come back because we are impossible. The situation is getting worse and worse. ?
Among other things, the teacher says:
"Here in Changsha a city of 7 million people where we have been living for 1 year, the media says there are 18 infected, but there are more. The exact figure is not given because no panic is needed. From the information we have there are many other Albanians in different provinces of China. "
An Albanian student, Josilda Ndreaj, who studies Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus, writes for Top Channel:
?I want to leave here as soon as possible. The situation is getting worse and worse. I myself cannot afford to move. I want to go back to Albania. I will be grateful to the Albanian government or to anyone who can help me through these difficult times, "she said in an interview with Top Channel.
Coronavirus was identified in December in Wuhan, when symptoms of pneumonia without clear causes were reported, which did not respond to treatments. The virus has spread rapidly in some countries outside China since mid-January, but has not yet been declared an "international emergency" because the number of infected outside China is low.
