The iconic 2004 film will be back on screen, but with a different vision. The movie was adapted into a theatrical show for Broadway and that show will now turn into a movie. That is, from film to musical comedy shows, to musical comedy films. Does it make sense?
Tina Fey, who has worked on both the film and screenplay script, will take care of the screenplay of "Mean Girls". "I've spent 16 years with these characters," she said in a press release. "They are my Marvel universe and I love them very much."
Author and producer of "Saturday Night Live," Lorne Michaels will be the producer of the musical comedy. The music will be composed by Jeff Richmond, Tina Fey's husband, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin.
Next step? "Mean Girls" series.
