At least 17 people have died in China, and another 600 are confirmed to be infected by the mysterious virus in Wuhan, a virus that can spread worldwide from Asia.
China has been forced to isolate the city of 11 million people since today (Thursday) in order to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.
Public transport has been shut down and authorities are urging people not to leave their homes for at least a week.
What is this virus?
This type of virus was not unintentionally called "mysterious", as it was completely unknown to science. After analysis, officials in China concluded, and the World Health Organization has concluded that the infection is a coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a broad family of viruses, but only 6 of them, along with this new virus, number 7, which can affect humans.
How does it appear in humans?
This type of virus causes serious lung disease and even deaths. The first symptoms of coronavirus are similar to those of a mild cold (runny nose, respiratory problems) but lead the infected to death. Although scientists initially thought it could only be transmitted from animals to humans, China confirmed that the virus could spread from human to human.
The World Health Organization will hold a meeting today to decide whether the spread of the Wuhan virus poses an "international threat to public health" or not.
In addition to China, the US confirmed the first case of coronavirus in their territory. The Center for Disease Control claimed that the virus originating in China was discovered in a US citizen who arrived in Seattle from China.
Is Albania at risk from this virus?
