Petrit Lekaj, who killed his 20-year-old daughter Sabrina Lekaj, was sentenced to prison twenty years ago. On Monday, he appeared in court via a telephone link and reconfirmed that he considers himself guilty.
He stabbed his daughter several times in her car simply because she had gone out with her friends the night before. The father was found in the daughter's seat next to her, with serious injuries to her stomach. He was taken to hospital to receive medical assistance. The tragic event happened in Adelaide, Australia on July 21.
The Advertiser published Lekaj's criminal past. According to the article, he was convicted in August 1996 of involvement in the marketing of a banned substance. He was accused of selling heroin. The 49-year-old was to spend two years in prison, but the time was shortened to six months.
In 2007, Lekaj received a $ 200 fine for possessing cannabis. He was also fined $ 100 for failing to properly stockpile ammunition.
Two years later, Lekaj was fined $ 700 after growing more cannabis plants than the doctor had instructed. It also owned equipment used for the production of various dorges.
Lekaj's lawyer requested additional time to conduct a psychiatric evaluation of the defendant's mental state.
