At only 30 years old, Diena Karanxhaj-Meçaj soon joined her husband who passed away five years ago. She and her toddler, eight-year-old Esiela, failed to survive the injuries received under the rubble of a six-story earthquake-hit Durres palace. The only one left alive is Diena's father, after her mother passed away.
Launched on Instagram, Diena's story is unimaginable, extraordinary, and terrifying at the same time. Despite the sadness left behind by the loss of her husband, she managed to pursue her dream of painting. Dorian graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and was considered one of the most promising painters, but lost his life at the age of 37 as a result of myocardial infarction. After his death, Diena curated an exhibition to commemorate his art.
As a way to perhaps have a connection with the late father, Diena made sure that Esiela, who soon joined the father who left her young, was in touch with the painting, his dream halfway.
A woman of many passions who adored music, painting, and any form of art in general, Diena decided not to give up. Her love of aesthetics, beauty, she materialized by opening a jewelry store. But here fate wanted the dreams to be left in half.
Today, Diena found herself with a thread of hope for life, though Esiela had long since passed away. She joined her daughter only a few moments after recovering from the wreckage. An incredible story as painful as the words are few to describe. The only thing left is the belief that maybe the three are together and maybe there is a place for souls made for each other.
