Perfume has always been a very personal choice - mainly because the flavors are personal, but also because a fragrance does not suit two people alike.
In addition to having tried it ourselves, so has science. A 2006 study by Stirling University found that many of us are drawn to scents that compliment the body's natural scent.
Lisa Hipgrave, from The International Fragrance Association, says: "Everyone has a unique fragrance that we believe is linked to the immune system and is influenced by where we live and what we eat. This means that the choice of a perfume depends not only on the grades of the perfume but also on how it will interact with the body's natural odor. ?
For oily skins, delicate and fruity notes are recommended. Over time, these fragrances intensify and last longer. Look for perfumes with lemon, juniper, bergamot, vanilla, moss and peppermint.
For dry skins rich, woody and spicy fragrances are recommended as they are longer lasting than other skin types. Look for perfumes with red pepper, cardamom and cumin. If you lean on unique perfumes, look for notes of saffron, cloves and mint.
