To make for over one billion potential viewers, Netflix released the first original serial from India and first impressions are definitely called hit. Sacred Games, an adaptation of the novel by Vikram Chandra is liked by all critics and by 97% of viewers.
Thriller focuses on the story of Sartaj Singh, a cynical police officer in Mumbai who intends to bring criminal Ganesh Gaitonde to justice. Singh calls the bandit Gaitonde from an unidentified number and threatens to throw the whole city into the wind. At the heart of Indian corruption, launches a battle between a police officer who is not a nobody and a bandit who (sometimes) considers himself God.
For many, this serial shows that Bollywood made a breakthrough in producing serials that are not merely intended for commercial success and require more than two neurons to be understood.
Acting is great, thanks to the fantastic actors cast. The series is recommended for anyone who wants to feel as if they are on the edge of the deep as history develops gradually. Turn around, Mumbai turns into a selfless character.
Eight episodes of Sacred Games can be found at Netflix, where to look.
