Sussex's Duchess's father, Thomas Markle, showed his daughter cried when she said she could not come to her wedding with Prince Harry.
Markle spoke about the relationship with Meghan in an interview with Good Morning Britain. The 73-year-old showed that he was the one who gave the news to her daughter.
"Meghan qau, I'm sure, and both told me to look after myself. They were worried about me, "he said. "Absolutely like to accompany my daughter to the altar."
A few days before the wedding, Thomas Markle underwent a heart operation after a heart attack. Fearing complications, he did not go to the royal wedding.
The 73-year-old also spoke of the scandal of paparazzi photos that shocked the world. "Now I understand that was a serious mistake. I can not undo it, "he said and added that the royal couple showed a lot of sympathy and wanted him to come to the wedding.
"Meghan told me 'everything is gait for you.' Harry said 'one of my friends from the military can take care of you.' Everything was organized, but I could not overcome what happened. I had a heart problem and what caused my palpitations. I had to go to the hospital at two in the night. That hospital sent me to another smaller hospital and from there I ended up in a larger hospital. I had a cardiac attack.
I got stabilized, but after a day and a half I felt better and decided to go to the wedding. I went out of the hospital against the doctor's orders, I thought I was better. "
Thomas Markle said that he talked to Meghan and Harry a bit, and was ready to go to the wedding.
"Called someone, Harry's custom. He told me 'we will come and take you today'. At that moment I started to have other palpitations and chest pain. I told him that I had to cancel it. All this happened because I did not care about my heart problems before. A friend took me to a hospital in the US and there they told me that the condition was serious and so I ended up being operated in my heart. "
His daughter's wedding, Thomas Markle, saw him from a small hotel room.
"I was very upset that I could not go to the altar because the whole world was seeing my daughter. The most unfortunate aspect of all of this is the fact that I am a note at the bottom of the history page. I am not the father who accompanied his daughter to the altar. "
As for Prince Charles playing the role of father at the wedding, Thomas Markle said:
"I do not think of a better substitute than Prince Charles. He looked very handsome and Meghan looked too beautiful too. I was jealous. I would like to be there, but thanks to the Lord, he was there and thanked him for that. "
