Putin begins visit to China, war in Ukraine at top of agenda

Vladimir Putin will travel to China this weekend for a visit that the Kremlin has described as "unprecedented", which is expected to last almost a week.

He will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, meet with Xi Jinping and be a guest of honor at the Beijing military parade.

The main topic of the meetings will be the war in Ukraine and ensuring China's long-term economic and political support for Russia.

Indonesia continues mass protests against police brutality after death of motorcyclist

Protests in Indonesia have entered their fifth day after the death of a motorbike rider who was allegedly run over by an armored police vehicle, sparking widespread public anger.

Clashes between students and police spread to many cities, where there were burnings of buildings, attacks on institutions, and the use of tear gas and water cannons by law enforcement.

Demonstrators are demanding police reform and an end to abuses, while the violence has brought back dark memories of the 1998 riots.

France braces for air chaos: largest controllers' union calls 24-hour strike in September

Air traffic controller unions in France are warning of major flight disruptions on September 18-19, after SNCTA, which represents around 60% of controllers, declared a 24-hour strike.

The decision came after the breakdown of dialogue with the Civil Aviation Authority, with the union accusing it of "punitive management and lack of reforms."

The strike is expected to affect not only flights to and from France, but also those passing through French airspace, causing delays and cancellations across Europe.

Zelenskyy seeks meetings with Trump and European leaders to advance peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he intends to meet with Donald Trump and European leaders next week to discuss the slowdown in the peace process with Russia.

He accused Moscow of dragging out negotiations by avoiding a summit on the grounds that talks should first be held at lower levels.

Zelenskyy stressed that to reach agreements, leaders must be involved immediately and not allow the process to remain stagnant.
