If you're not feeling well these days, 'winter depression' could be to blame: 6 things you can do!

If you're not feeling well these days, 'winter depression'

Experts claim that the change of mood during a certain period of winter is something real and happens to some people.

It can be a symptom of a true medical condition known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD). During this time, you may have feelings of sadness and melancholy, by definition, you may "experience feelings of depression or deep dissatisfaction associated with experiencing the cold."

However, here are 6 ways to improve the situation somewhat:

1. When you are not feeling well, start increasing blood circulation

In other words, one solution to get rid of winter boredom is to exercise!

In fact, exercise is also a cure for feeling happier.

This is because moving your body (even for a bit) will help improve your overall stress hormones, which in turn, will make you feel much better.

You can start with moderate exercises. Try brisk walking, jogging or cycling and try to create a simple daily routine in the comfort of home.

2. Stay warm on cold days

Studies have shown that being warm during the winter months can reduce the symptoms of SAD . This is because if you have a cold, it can affect your mood, making you feel more nervous.

Let the sunlight enter during the day to heat the house.

Drink warm teas.

Keep the curtains closed at night.

Cover the floor with cozy rugs and keep a bottle of hot water in bed, for cold winter nights, or an electric blanket.

3. Adhere to a healthy sleep routine

Staying in the warm bed in the winter may seem like the perfect solution, but experts suggest not changing your routine, or changing it just to tap improve it.

Schedule a pre-sleep time: Allow yourself 20-30 minutes to relax each night before bed.

The moment you fall asleep and wake up when you plan, give yourself small "prizes", such as a day dedicated only to yourself.

Sleep at the same time every night and get up every morning at the same time, even on weekends.

After 3 p.m., do not sleep in the afternoon and during the day, do not sleep more than 20 minutes.

4. Try to warm the stomach

Salep, hot kako, coffee, tea, cappuccino: Winter is for an evening in front of the screen with Christmas movies and hot drinks.

5. Consider "light therapy"

Loss of sunlight can interfere with brain chemistry and cause a drop in dopamine and vitamin D levels. Sunlight is one of the most important ways to combat "winter boredom". Spend as much time as you can in natural light and let the light enter the house.

6. Use vitamins

The cause of your unstable mood or exhaustion may well be a vitamin deficiency. Your body needs the vitamins and nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
