Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced the split weeks ago, but never said the real reason and asked for privacy. Recently, an ex-boyfriend of one of the singer's sisters spoke to the Spanish media EsDiario.
Roberto García ensures that the split between Shakira and Piqué was due to money. According to him, they seemed to have a perfect relationship, but in reality the problems between them started months ago and the reasons were purely economic.
Garcia said that once Piqué asked the singer a large sum of money to invest in other businesses, but Shakira refused because her parents did not agree and it is they who put the points on i for her finances.
From that moment the relationship broke down and constant quarrels started that led them to separation.
"According to what a person very close to them told me, there was an economic problem between the two. Apparently, Piqué asked Shakira for money on an investment issue and the singer's family refused to give it to him. "They did not mix the money and split the expenses in half," said Garcia.
