Many of us, as we grow up, forget to appreciate how much our parents, especially our mothers, have done for us. Beyond the physical traits or habits we may have inherited, there are some other important things they may have given us that we may never have thought about.

According to some scientific research, intelligence is more closely related to inheritance from the mother.

To better understand this, we need to look at the role of chromosomes. Women have two X chromosomes, while men have one X and one Y chromosome. Chromosomes function as carriers of genes that are passed from parents to children.

According to a study from the State Laboratory for Plant Protein and Gene Research, intelligence is linked to the X chromosome, and since mothers have two of them, there is a greater possibility that some of our cognitive abilities come from our mother's side.

This doesn't mean that fathers have no influence. The same study suggests that the Y chromosome is more closely linked to certain physical aspects of a child's development.

However, it should be noted that these experiments have been conducted mainly on animals, although researchers have found some possible links in humans as well. They have identified cells in different parts of the brain that control cognitive functions, such as memory and other mental processes, which contain genes inherited from either the mother or the father.

According to some analyses, animals with more genes inherited from their mother developed larger brains and heads, but smaller bodies, while those with more genes from their father had smaller brains and larger bodies.

But it's not just the mother's genes that influence the development of intelligence. Her emotional relationship and love also play an important role in brain development.

Researchers from the University of Washington have shown that a secure emotional bond with a mother can influence the growth of certain parts of the brain. According to them, children who receive emotional support and have their emotional and mental needs met may have a more developed hippocampus during adolescence.

The hippocampus is a part of the brain that is associated with memory, learning, and how we cope with stress.

So intelligence is not only determined by genes, but also by how we are raised, the relationships we form, and the emotional support we receive during childhood. Ultimately, it seems that mothers may have more to be appreciated than just the traits they inherited.
