The Delta variant, one of the most disturbing in the world today, has not been identified in Albania. During her speech in the Assembly, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, said that the situation is under control, but vigilance should not be reduced.
"There are very positive indicators of the epidemic in the country, but there is an alarm that experts refer to and I wanted to bring it to the attention of all citizens: The new Delta variant, which has been identified in the region and by the World Health Organization. It is considered a new variant, but it has aroused concern, considering that it is much more contagious than the other variants that have dominated so far and therefore maximum care is required. "
She added:
"Currently in our laboratories no case has been identified with the Delta variant, but all structures of the surveillance system have been placed on alert for early detection of any suspected case."
The Minister said that the mass vaccination campaign will continue during the summer to increase the "vaccine coverage for the protection of citizens", at a time when concerns are being raised about the Delta variant, which was confirmed two days ago in Kosovo.
