A cashier at a Tokyo market has been arrested for allegedly stealing the credit card data of 1300 customers, simply remembering the numbers.
The part-time employee was arrested Thursday for stealing credit card details to buy bags worth $ 2600.
A police officer familiar with the event told CNN that the man, who worked at a Koto shopping mall, memorized credit card data as he processed payments - then used the data to make online purchases for himself.
The suspect has photographic memory and police found a block containing all credit card details.
The crime committed only with the help of photographic memory may be one of the most special cases in Japan, but not the largest. In 2016, a group of thieves used 1,600 counterfeit cards to withdraw money from 1,400 ATMs across Japan. In just two hours, they stole $ 13 million.
