During the exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle confessed like never before about all the dark moments she had to go through during her time as a member of the royal family.
The Duchess of Sussex said that for some time there were "suicidal thoughts" expressed by one of the palace's old aides, but the latter refused to help her seek help.
"I was ashamed to say it at the time, I was ashamed to admit it to Harry especially because I know how much he has lost and how much he has suffered. On the other hand I knew that if I did not say it, I would have to do it. "I just lost the desire to be alive. That was a clear, true, scary and constant thought in my head," Markle said.
Markle added that the need to move to another country was growing.
"I just remember him hugging me. Then it was me who went to the institution to tell him I needed to go somewhere for help. I told him I had never felt this way before and that I needed to "I went somewhere else. In response I received a rejection. I was told I could not do it as this would not be a good thing for the institution."
Through this confession Markle said he intends to help anyone who is going through a difficult moment of mental health and urged people to always remember that "no one knows what someone goes through after the doors close. You have no idea."
