These are letters for "Di"! A series of personal letters, mostly for holidays and special occasions, that the late Princess Diana wrote to former housekeepers are expected to go up for auction this month for six figures.
The collection contains Diana's correspondence after her 1981 marriage to then-Prince Charles, as well as 14 Christmas and New Year cards sent between 1981 and 1995. Their recipient is Maud Pendry, a former employees at the Spencer family home at Althorp in Northamptonshire and in their details they convey the language of the princess's kindness and gratitude to her employees at the time.
A handwritten note, in black ink on royal paper, is dated 8 September 1982 and describes her honeymoon with Charles as "a huge success and quality time".
In another letter, written shortly after the birth of her first son William, Diana described herself as an "extremely proud and lucky mother".
"William has brought us so much happiness and satisfaction and therefore I can't wait for the additional security measures," she added.
A note from September 1982, the honorable princess thanks the employee for the gift she gave her eldest son.
"We are so excited and delighted with our amazing employees. Thank you so much for spoiling William, he doesn't deserve it!"
The letter is signed at the bottom with the words: "Much care and much love from all of us, Diana."
Prince Charles and Princess Diana separated in 1992, a year described by Queen Elizabeth II as simply difficult and terrible for the royal family.
Princess Diana died at the age of 36 in a tragic accident in Paris in 1997.
