Trump suspends 'Project Freedom', says he hopes to finalize a deal with Iran

Donald Trump temporarily halted the "Project Freedom" operation, which aimed to free ships blocked in the Strait of Hormuz, to finalize a deal with Iran, but maintained the naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Although the US claims to have opened a safe corridor and has over 100 aircraft on patrol, only two ships have passed while hundreds more with around 23,000 crew members remain stranded and one ship reported being hit by an unknown object.
The closure of the strait, a route for about 20% of global energy supply, has pushed oil prices above $108 a barrel and added to economic pressure, while negotiations continue indirectly through Pakistani mediation.
Sick British crew member to be urgently evacuated as hantavirus-hit cruise ship sets sail for Spain

A British crew member on an expedition ship MV Hondius is being urgently evacuated after a suspected Hantavirus outbreak, as the World Health Organization warns of rare transmission between people in very close contact.
There are about 150 people on board from 23 countries, with 7 suspected cases and 3 fatalities, while the ship is heading to the Canary Islands for testing, treatment and repatriation.
Although the virus is usually spread by rodents, it is suspected in this case that it was transmitted between passengers sharing cabins, and the lack of a cure makes early medical intervention critical.
"Think before you share," says Giorgia Meloni, as her AI-generated underwear image goes viral

Giorgia Meloni criticized the distribution of fake photos created with artificial intelligence, including an image of her in lingerie that went viral and was taken as real by many users.
She called this phenomenon a form of digital bullying and warned that deepfakes can manipulate and harm anyone, urging people to verify information before believing or sharing it.
Italy has already passed strict laws on the use of artificial intelligence, including prison sentences for creating such content, following a scandal where manipulated images of politicians were shared on a platform with over 700,000 followers.
Portugal arrests 15 more police officers in ongoing Lisbon rape and torture investigation

In Lisbon, authorities arrested 15 more police officers, bringing to 24 the total number of officers under investigation on charges including torture, rape, abuse of power and serious violence against vulnerable people.
The investigations include checks at several police stations and it is suspected that the victims were mainly undocumented immigrants, homeless people and drug users, deliberately selected as the most vulnerable.
The case, which could involve up to 70 police officers, has raised serious concerns about systematic abuse within the police, although leaders insist on "zero tolerance" and public trust.
