Ukraine's military said on Monday it had struck a major Russian ammunition factory, a key oil terminal and an arms depot behind the front line with long-range drones, adding to the pressure on Moscow's military logistics.
The Ukrainian General Staff announced that it had attacked the Sverdlov ammunition factory in the Nizhny Novgorod region of western Russia overnight, causing several explosions and a fire.
According to the military, this factory supplies Russian forces with ammunition for aviation and artillery, aerial bombs, as well as anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons.
Ursula von der Leyen calls for unity in the face of attempts to oust her from office
Ursula von der Leyen responded to renewed efforts to oust her as European Commission president by calling for political unity at a time when, according to her, "our opponents are not only ready to exploit divisions, but also incite them themselves."
Von der Leyen faces two simultaneous no-confidence motions this week, presented by far-right and far-left groups in the European Parliament, just three months after she successfully survived the first no-confidence vote.
Neither of the two motions is expected to pass.
Two years since Hamas's biggest terrorist attack on Israel
Two years ago, Hamas carried out the largest terrorist attack on Israeli soil, hitting military bases and a music festival. Nearly 1,200 people were killed and over 250 others were taken hostage.
It was 6:29 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when a barrage of rockets hit Israel.
Some 5,000 rockets were fired by Hamas in what was called the "Al-Aqsa Flood."
The Palestinian militant group named the operation after the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam.
Israel's air defense system, the "Iron Dome," was immediately activated.
This event also led to the bloody war in Gaza.
Israel deports Greta Thunberg and other activists
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau are among 171 activists who were deported from Israel to Greece and Slovakia on Monday after failing to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza last week.
The activists were detained by Israeli authorities since last Wednesday night, after the Israeli navy stopped 44 civilian ships carrying a symbolic amount of aid to Gaza.
The fleet's goal was to break Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip and deliver vital aid to the war-torn area.
