The CES technology show (known as the Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, USA, was full of health equipment this year, including the toilet.
French firm Withings is debuting U-Scan, an at-home urine lab that offers nutrition advice and can tell women when they're in their menstrual cycle.
"We have integrated a feature, stream ID , through which we are able to recognize and identify the user who is urinating on the product, so we will only collect the urine when you are using the product," Inna Ndaw explained to Euronews Next.
The device is only 90 mm in diameter. "Urine actually has over 3,000 metabolites. So it's a source of information that's not usually used much because it's very difficult to access," said a company representative.
"Most people don't like to go and get a urinalysis. Usually, people will go once a year to get tested instead of getting tested regularly so that they have enough information to improve their health. theirs."
The results are put into a smartphone app, providing analysis and recommendations based on the data. The U-Scan will be distributed in Europe by mid-2023 and is expected to cost $500.
