Lizzo, the singer who has also been awarded with Grammy awards, through a post on Instagram, announced that she will give up the music industry. In the post, she shares with people the news, as well as the reasons that led her to this decision.
“I'm tired of being dragged down by everyone in my life and on the internet. "All I want is to make music, make people happy and help the world be a little better place than I found it, but I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it."
Further, it continued:
"I am always against the lies being told about me for clicks... My character is being chosen by people who don't even know me and (decide) not to respect my name. I'm giving up," she concluded the post.
Lizzo's reaction comes after she was sued by three of her former ballerinas, who allege they were subjected to a hostile work environment and sexual harassment when they were members of the dance team. The lawsuit alleges that Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez were "forced to endure sexually derogatory conduct" and "pressured to participate in sexually disturbing performances" between 2021 and 2023.
One of the dancers, Arianna Davis, was said to have been urged by the singer to "touch a nude performer's breasts" when they were at a club in Amsterdam's Red Light District in February. For fear of retaliation, it is said that she agreed, although she had expressed many times that she did not want to touch him.
Another former dancer claims her role on the team was questioned by the singer, who expressed "secret" concerns about the dancer's "weight gain" and pressured her to "explain her weight" as well reveal intimate personal details.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that dance team leader Shirlene Quigley pushed her Christian beliefs on the dancers and mocked them for having premarital sex. She is also accused of openly discussing the virginity of one of the former ballerinas.
