Venice will be the city where the long-awaited wedding between multibillionaire Jeff Bezos and his future bride, Lauren Sanchez, will be held, but even one of the richest people in the world may face difficulties getting into an area with the best view in the city.
The three-day festivities will last from June 24 to 26, according to Luca Zuin, a spokesman for the mayor of Venice, and will reportedly take place on Bezos' $500 million superyacht, which will be moored in the Venice lagoon.
This may indeed sound like a dream wedding location, but restrictions on large ships that cannot get too close to the historic St. Mark's Square may hinder the view.
Jeff Bezos' yacht is too big to be allowed anywhere near the Grand Canal, the Italian city's most picturesque waterway.
Although no details of the ceremony have been confirmed by Bezos or his fiancée, the city confirmed the wedding in a statement, adding that the ceremony would be manageable with just 200 guests.
Bezos proposed to Lauren Sanchez, a journalist and aviation expert, with a 30-carat diamond ring in 2023 and hosted a party on the Amalfi Coast, Italy, with guests including Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan and Kris Jenner.
