Many Japanese have a ritual of their own when it comes to washing their face. The technique is known as the "4-2-4 method", lasts 10 minutes and has 3 main steps. A specialist says that if you use this cleansing method, you do not need to wash your face in the morning, only at night. Moreover, you do not have to do it every day. 4 times a week is enough.
- First 4 minutes: Oil phase
The oil phase aims to improve circulation by massaging the skin for 4 minutes, applying an oil (oil-based cleanser) to the face. It is important to choose the right oil for you. Some Japanese women use castor oil, jojoba oil, etc. Be careful with massaging your skin in case you see that something is not going on the skin. Consult a dermatologist before taking this step, as many doctors do not suggest every oil for every skin type.
- 2 minutes later: Cleaning
After massaging the face, apply the cleanser on oily skin. Wash your face for 2 minutes with gentle movements so as not to hurt the skin.
- Last 4 minutes: Rinse
Start with warm water for 2 minutes, then finish with cold water for another 2 minutes. Warm water helps to remove excess oil from your skin and increase blood circulation to the surface. Cold water can help narrow the pores. This technique helps to hydrate the skin so that after the procedure, the skin glows.
