Why is baby oil used for tanning?

Many people choose baby oil to tan in the sun because the skin tans faster. The reason why the skin tans faster is related to the fact that baby oil attracts and absorbs ultraviolet rays faster.

So is it dangerous?

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes, it is dangerous because baby oil does not contain protective factors.
Detailed answer:

1. Skin is damaged and pigmentation changes: Exposure to ultraviolet rays increases when you use baby oil, which can stimulate melanocytes or pigment-producing cells. This can cause pigmentation problems, spots, darkening of the scars and worsening of the skin.

2. Increases the risk of skin cancer: The oil absorbs ultraviolet rays and allows them to penetrate deep into the skin increasing the risk of cancer.

3. Aging skin: A skin exposed to ultraviolet rays is a skin that ages faster due to collagen damage.

Can baby oil be used on top of sunscreen?

Dermatologists agree that it is not a good idea. Tanned skin is never healthy.
