In a recent investigation of the "Piranjat" show, it is reported that Altin Basha, the director of the National Theater and his wife, Iliriana Basha, have abused the funds.
In 2022, Altin Basha was appointed director of the National Theatre. In just two years of work, through requests for information and documents provided by "Piranjat" journalists, it is claimed that Basha has made excessive expenses related to theater performances and has also registered employees, and therefore paid, close people who, they have not actually performed their respective jobs.
"Piranjat" reports that in the show "Vojçek", Altin Basha has hired his wife, Iliriana Basha, as set designer and costume designer. According to the documents provided by the program, Iliriana Basha did not receive any payment for her work, so she did voluntary work. However, in the show's file, it appears that she requested 12 million ALL (old) for the actors' costumes, even though the theater has its own rich wardrobe that could be used at work.
It is written that 500,000 Lek were paid for the overcoats of the male actors, while 270,000 Lek were given for the dresses of the actresses in some cases.
The tailor Musa Fisniku, who said that he made the clothes for the show "Voj?ek", for the same overcoat that the National Theater paid 500,000 lek, told "Piranjat" that it cost 200,000 lek.
Furthermore, Altin Basha has also hired two people close to him, Ervis Salias and Benada Shute, for the same show. They previously worked on Altin Basha's "Fustanella" show, the first as a moderator and the second as a screenwriter.
Benada Shuta was employed in the play "Voj?ek" as a make-up artist and was paid 4 million lek for this, but meanwhile Shpresa Vasili, former make-up artist of the National Theater, said that she did the make-up for this play and all the others by herself. Benada Shuta also has an activity registered at the National Business Center, where it is written that she acts as a screenwriter, director's assistant, organizer and executive producer, but nowhere as a make-up artist.
Altin Basha has also put on the stage of the Experimental Theater the show "Red" and had available 24 million lek funds for this show, where he also hired his wife.
The show "Red" had only two actors, Gentian Zenelaj and Urim Aliaj, but it turns out that a staff of 13 people was hired for its realization. Despite the fact that these names are made public for each performance, the Experimental Theater has not reflected this information, even after requests.
In a confrontation with the journalist of the show, Altin Basha gave almost no answer to the accusations, requesting an official meeting at the National Theatre.
His wife, Iliriana Basha, denied having benefited from the costume funds for the show "Voj?ek".
"For this face, I and Mr. Altin Basha have worked hard, because we have three children and instead of going somewhere else and living like kings, we have chosen to live in this dirty, vile country and not to never stole a single cent, to never raise a finger from us, because we want to raise our children well," she expressed indignantly as she left with Altin Basha from a premiere in the theater.
