Dozens of citizens gathered in Lezha to honor the memory of 25-year-old Xhuana Nikollaj, who lost her life in tragic circumstances. Those present lit candles and placed flowers next to her photograph, as a symbol of a life cut short that ended too soon.
Family, friends and city residents expressed their condolences over the tragedy, with candles and bouquets of flowers becoming symbols of grief and support for the young woman's family. Tributes were accompanied by messages of solidarity and calls for more awareness.
Likewise, many citizens raised concerns about violence against women and girls, emphasizing the need for a stronger response from society and institutions.

This event has brought back into focus debates about the safety and protection of women, as it was marked just a few days after International Women's Day.
Meanwhile, in connection with the case, the police have announced a search for her ex-husband, Eraldo Fizi, who had returned from abroad on March 9 and is suspected of having gone to his ex-partner's apartment in Tirana, severely raping her.
In the early morning hours of March 10, the 25-year-old is suspected of having consumed photoxine, ending her life, while signs of violence were found on her body, while a letter she had left for her family was found in the apartment.

Xhuana Nikollaj and Eraldo Fizi were married in June 2025 in Lezha, but the marriage only lasted a few months. Various media outlets have reported that the deceased's ex-partner did not accept the separation, so he raped her, inciting her to commit the fatal act.
