Dove Cameron has spoken out about her surprise proposal from Damiano David, revealing she was "totally unprepared" for the blessed moment.
Dove Cameron and Damiano David announced their engagement on January 3, 2026, three months after the Maneskin singer proposed. In an interview with Vogue, the actress and singer, 30, shared new details about the event, including how it happened and how unexpected it was.

Although engagement photos posted on social media show the couple looking elegant during a New Year's Eve trip, the proposal took place in a very private moment between the couple in October.
"I was completely makeup-free," Dove told Vogue. "I was completely makeup-free because I had no idea the proposal was going to happen that day. It was really beautiful in that way, because I'm usually always makeup-free, prepared. I like to experiment with my looks, but in this case I was just wearing a big T-shirt, my hair a little damp, and no makeup."
In late October, Cameron and David sparked engagement rumors when they were photographed in Australia, with the actress sporting a typical engagement ring on her finger, confirming the news. The couple enjoyed this happy period in private for several months before publicly confirming the news.

To make the rings even more special, each one has an "engraved saying" on the inside of the ring, with Damiano's saying "The best part of life" and Dove's saying "My favorite part of life."

Regarding her wedding plans, Cameron explained that she wants her look to be authentic, without following traditional makeup norms.
"On my wedding day, I don't want to do anything too traditional," she said. "When I get my makeup done, sometimes I feel like I'm performing for others, but I want to feel more like myself."
