If you wear make-up regularly, one of the key elements of this process is not only the products, but also the tools with which you do the make-up. We're talking about brushes, and we're not just talking about professional artist brushes, but also the ones you use when doing your makeup at home. Experts say that you should be very careful with their cleaning, the way you do this process so that they last for a long time...
How to clean makeup brushes:
To make sure you're cleaning your brushes efficiently, celebrity makeup artist Brooke Simons brings her pro "expertise." "As a makeup artist, I'm careful with my brush cleaning routine and clean them after every use. Whereas, on the set I have for personal use, I clean it once or twice a week," she says.
If your skin is changing often lately, you have more spots or acne, this should be a worrying sign.
When it comes to cleaning brushes, Simons vouches for a cleaner you might not have thought of—liquid dish detergent. "I've tried different brush cleaners, but I always come back to the same thing, which is dish soap."
Brush cleaning procedure:
Pour some warm water and a few drops of dish soap into a small bowl, then put your makeup brushes in it after use. After the brushes are soaked, the expert says she rubs them by hand in a gentle motion before rinsing them with clean water.
After rinsing, I leave the brushes upside down and finally use a clean towel to dry them thoroughly.
