Dua Lipa talks about literature and the importance of Kadare's works in her life

Invited to the "Booker Prize 2022" awards ceremony, Dua Lipa gave a speech in which she praised literature in general, as well as the writer Ismail Kadare, especially his work, "Castle".

"When I was young, my family decided to return to Kosovo. "Reading books like "Castle" by Ismail Kadare tested my language skills and helped me connect with my family background and identity as a Kosovar Albanian," the singer emphasized.

"Through Kadare, I learned about the resistant spirit of the Albanians that still keeps Kosovo fighting for the recognition of its independence", she added.

Dua expressed that literature and reading a book are among the deepest pleasures in the world and that a good deed makes people feel good.

"It is a great honor to be among some of the world's greatest literary minds to talk about one of the world's deepest pleasures: reading a book. Reading is a passion that has taken many forms for me. Like many other London school kids, my early obsessions included Roald Dahl and Malorie Blackman, both of whom gave me little pearls of wisdom that still guide me today,” she said, noting that when she gets carried away by tour commitments and tense life, finds peace and "survival" in books.
