Cameron Diaz has offered some insight into her decision to take a decade-long break from acting following her last role in 2014's 'Annie'.
"It felt like the right thing for me to rebuild my life. And I just didn't care about anything else," Diaz said.
“No one's opinion, no one's success, no one's offer, nothing (offered) by anyone could change my mind about the decision to take care of myself and build the life I really wanted to have. It all came from the question: 'What arouses your passion?' For me, it was building my family.”
After the big success with Jim Carrey in the film 'The Mask' in 1994, Diaz stood out as one of the best actresses in Hollywood. In 2015, she married artist Benji Madden, partially retiring from her acting career.
In late 2019, the couple welcomed their first child together through a surrogate mother, and in March of this year, they announced the arrival of their second child.
"I wouldn't be where I am now as a mother if I was on a movie set that took 14-16 hours out of my day away from the child," Diaz said in a 2021 interview.
Diaz, 52, who in 2020 started an organic wine company, 'Avaline,' first announced her return to Hollywood with a June 2022 Instagram post, revealing her role in the Netflix comedy, ' Back in Action', which will air in January 2025.
