Sean Connery, the Scottish actor best known for portraying James Bond, passed away at the age of 90 in the Bahamas. His son, Jason, said the actor died quietly in his sleep after being "bad for a while".

"A sad day for all who knew and loved my father and a sad loss for people all over the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor."
Sean Connery started his acting career at an early age, but in the '50s he was more successful. Despite appearing in theaters and movies, it was James Bond with "Dr.No" that gave him another status on screen, which was followed by "From Russia with Love", "Goldfinger", "Thunderball", "You Only Live" Twice ”or“ Diamonds Are Forever ”.
Fame allowed him to be part of James Bond films outside, such as Alfred Hitchcock's "Marnie" or Sidney Lumet's "The Hill." Connery won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for The Untouchables (1988).
Connery married twice: first to actress Diane Cilento (1962-1973) with whom he had a son, Jason, and then to French-Moroccan painter Micheline Roquebrune in 1975.
