For the third time in American history, the House of Representatives took the historic step of accusing President Donald Trump of high crimes and abuse of power.
The House voted on two important issues: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump's case will pass in the Senate next month.
The House vote came after a three-month investigation into allegations that Trump has pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate his political rivals.
We emphasize that Trump's trial is expected to be held in January. He may be removed from office if at least two-thirds of the Senate votes. The House of Representatives has a Democratic majority, while the Republican Senate, which questions Trump's dismissal.
Following that decision, Donald Trump is the third in America's history to be indicted by the House of Representatives for abusing power after Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998. President Richard Nixon resigned in 1974 before his investigation procedures. Johnson and Clinton were not dismissed from the Senate, as Trump is expected to be, since most of them are Republican-controlled. But Johnson and Clinton faced these charges in the middle of their term, with Trump shortly before his termination. That means he will run in the November 2020 election with the weight of the House's allegations, leaving the last word to the people.
