Instagram recently sent a warning letter to the San Francisco-based marketing partner Hyp3r, a company that was just discovered to collect user data improperly.
As reported by Business Insider, Hyp3r used various tools to collect public data from Instagram, including user posts, profile information and their locations. This data was then sold to Hyp3r customers for targeted advertising.

Among other things, Hyp3r collected data from Insta Stories, which disappear after 24 hours and are not accessible through tools that Instagram makes available to third parties.
"Hyp3r's actions violate our policies," an Instagram spokesman told CNBC, while Hyp3r said they had not broken any rules.
In the letter sent by Instagram to the marketing company, it is stated that if the proper measures are not taken, the company will be sued.
