After Netflix defeated HBO last year, receiving more Emmy nominations, HBO returned to the first place thanks to the "Game of Thrones". HBO secured 32 nominees for "Game of Thrones" by breaking the previous record held by NYPD Blue (26 nominations in 1994). "Barry" was nominated 17 times, while "Chernobyl" 19. HBO aggregated in total (exactly 137) nearly three times more nominations than ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS networks taken together.
The Emmy Awards will be aired live on Fox by Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 22nd.
