Jared Harris plays the protagonist role of Valery Legasov, a Soviet nuclear physicist; Stellan Skarsgard plays the vice. Soviet Prime Minister Boris Shcherbina, who is tasked by the Kremlin to lead the government commission in Chernobyl after the accident; and Emily Watson, plays Ulana Khomyk, a nuclear physicist devoted to the discovery of the cause after the explosion.
