From the title you do not think it's a state in America, right? Naturally, no one expects that the most developed country in the world violates women's rights so openly.
On Tuesday, 25 Republican men approved the bill stopping abortion in Alabama. The Senate approved the bill last week and yesterday was signed by the governor of state, Kay Ivey. Officially, the draft law is law and abortion is expected to be outlawed soon.
Excludes cases of rape or incest
The only cases where abortion is lawful in Alabama are whether the patient's mother's life is at risk or if the fetus suffers from abnormalities incompatible with life. There are no cases of rape or incest. So let's assume that a 13-year-old girlfriend is raped by her family and she gets pregnant, she must necessarily give birth to her baby.
The punishment is severe for doctors who perform abortions
Doctors who perform abortions can be sentenced to 10 to 99 years in prison. Doctors who attempt to perform an abortion can be punished for 10 years. Patients who are aborted are not punished, according to the draft law.
When it comes into force
Considering that abortion is legal in the whole of America, at the Supreme Court's order, the law in question contradicts the decision taken in 1973. Consequently, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) will sue the state of Alabama on the law aborting abortion because it is not constitutional
