Two Italian experts will develop a DNA analysis on a hairpin that is said to belong to the genius Leonardo da Vinci.
The hair was found in a private collection in the US and is expected to be shown to the public (for the first time) at the Ideale Leonardo da Vinci Museum in Vinci (the city where Leonardo was born) starting May 2nd, which marks the 500th anniversary the artist's death.
"We found across the Atlantic, a hairpin historically called" Les Cheveux de Leonardo Da Vinci "and this will allow us to continue searching for Da Vinci's DNA. It is what we needed to make historic research more solid looking from a scientific point of view. After analyzing DNA, we will compare it to those of his still living ancestors, and to his bones that have been buried in the past years, "said Alessandro Vezzosi, the museum's director and Agnese Sabati, president of the Leonardo Foundation da Vinci Heritage ".
The hair will be presented for the first time and at a press conference
