Notre-Dame's famous cathedral in Paris is covered by flames. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but officials say it may be related to any carelessness of the workers who are taking over the restoration of the building.
Photos and videos on social networks show the moment when flames and smoke surround the hit 850-year-old Gothic.
Last year, the Catholic Church in France called urgently for funds to rescue the cathedral, which was threatening to collapse.
Currently a major operation is being organized to turn off the fire.
