A few hours ago Anabel's social networks were announced as the official launch date of the 2nd season of "Hostel by Anabel". Dalina Buzi, the creator and executive producer of this series, gives us some details about the new season.
Why was it so late?
In fact, it was a mistake to imitate the technical date "January", as I still did not know what dick I had entered this year. Just one month before the beginning of the new calendar year, I decided to make a radical change in the third part of the "Hostel", a decision that required a great investment in production and production.
You mean the "What do you mean when ..." section that was with short skirts?
Yes. It was one of the most successful columns, but I felt that we as a team had the opportunity to show even more potential, so by the skate, that section has now advanced into a real cinematic series. In fact, the series has gone even bigger than what I predicted and it could very well be broadcasted on its own, so I still think I'm rushing with the date (laughs).
Yet people can hardly wait. At least what I read through the comments ...
True. Expectancy and impatience has been enormous. We were surprised, happy, but also frightened by the extraordinary feedback we received. Every day (and here is not exaggerating) we receive messages from people who ask when we will start. How often do I read such a comment, I say to myself, "Awful, these people love this production so much. Are we able to bring a new product that will love the same? "
Say that production will be a true cinematic serial. So will all the girls be the main actress?
The serial, a rom-com (Romantic Comedy), currently mentioning only the short title #LLT deals with Tirana's daily Tirana, a little portrayed in cinematic / television productions, but it's Tirana that I know, Anabel's gocat recognize all participating actors. It is Tirana's love, division, family problems, career, Tirana (well) of a modern mentality. Tirana where people seek themselves and each other. But most importantly, it is a Tirana where we live and hope, and there are no short solutions like "leaving" for everyone. The Anabel Hostel girls will definitely be in their respective roles, as will Ernest Manaj, but the caste is far bigger than that, including renowned music and cinema names such as Egla Ceno, Alban Ramosaj, Ina Gjonçi, Eni Shehu, Alex Seitaj and others. In general, all the selected ones enter the most natural and modern actors of the screen and the theater, which I appreciate and have given the right color to the roles.
Will the rest of the "Hostel by Anabel" be changed?
Megi, Dea, Viola, Alberta and Ana are also this year, alike, with different typologies but very closely related. They will continue to explore Albanian phenomena and countries in their "Trial" mode, while "Anabel Lab" this year has evolved into a mix of situations and trials that were previously unrealized on television or on online channels. The two co-screenwriters of this edition, Klaudia Brahimaj, have been cared for and I'm just telling you to tear them up, and you will be surprised how open are the young Albanians, who this year shared with "Hostel by Anabel "their intimacy as never before.
He said that this is a much bigger investment than last year. Why back online?
Why not? I have nothing on television. I love television because it has been my first media school, but I'm happy and blessed to do what I want in this age where I can freely choose the channel I want to communicate. Anabel.al has been among the first to understand the power of online in 2009 and our audience passes a considerable time on social networks. So I do not see how the small screen will help me anymore. An interesting fact: The Oscar ceremony broadcast on one of the most powerful American channels, ABC is seen this year by 26.5 million people. While interviews with Jordyn Woods by Jada Pinket Smith, aired on Friday (March 1st) on Facebook's social network, has caught up to 30.5 million views. What is the difference?
When I say why not television, I'm talking about perhaps the biggest economic benefit you get when you come near a famous television ...
This is true and applies to many free-lance producers, but not to Anabel's case. We have for many years built a very healthy relationship with dozens of companies who have trusted in our service and content. Obviously a production like this new season of "Hostel by Anabel" is very costly, I can say as costly as the most viewed premium television productions, but we as a staff believe in this and when you believe and when you have shown success and correctness, support is not lacking.
Did you expect to take "Hostel by Anabel" on other platforms like Netflix, or do something for the cinema?
We've been discussing "Netflix" to be honest. I'm a lot footed on the ground and I like to kick off well before throwing it, even though I get fire when I get a winning idea on my head. I believe that this year, the production, whether it's the "Hostel by Anabel" or even the series in the last part, is content and quality is easily eligible for that platform, but we will see it. I can not speak now. As far as cinema is concerned, it is my childhood dream. Even though I started as a media journalist, I always love film directorship and screenplay, even in the last 2-3 years, I hate calling me a journalist, since I'm totally disconnected from that sector. I respect the cinema screen very much, so much so that at the moment I do not trust in my knowledge and I have to train too. An interesting fact: After finishing a draft of the new script screen, which was liked by all the staff, I suspected there were some problems but I did not know where to finger my finger. Then I started reading books on the Kindle script and made some online (Masterclass) courses with famous American screenwriters and scriptwriters. I realized that I had been in vain. What the staff liked was a novel, not a screenplay for the camera. So I rewrote everything from the beginning. It has been one of the most extraordinary experiences in my entire career.
Are you happy with the final version?
Never. Recognizing myself, up to broadcast, I will change it and cut it several times. And after being broadcast, I will say "Ah, I had done this so much better." But I'm happy about how director Endri Delisula has translated my whole idea, because for me, this is a very important factor of success. I am also happy with the selection of castles, which are more or less fixed, as I have imagined in the head.
Why is the Hostel aired on Tuesday this year and not on Monday?
I am very superstitious and I'm not going to make it any longer, because it will complicate this interview with my lunatic and numerological calculations. (Laughs)
Will there be taboo break even this year?
I would understand this question if someone outside of Anabel would do it to me, but you and everyone who works every day at the company's offices know you know what the media are saying "taboo" from time to time. simply natural human choices. We have been dealing with phenomena such as drugs, homosexuality, betrayal, marriage crises, self-esteem, etc. for years. There are things this season that have not been treated so normal in Albanian TV productions, but I refuse to isolate them, because the series is Life That Happens and in the life that happens, people are all alike in search of themselves, love and wellbeing.
When the new season is released, besides viewing, what will you call the biggest win?
Anabel has always worked with the audience in the mind. In every step we have just shown love for people, entertaining, informing and inspiring. From this season I want people not only to have fun but also find themselves in no time to feel "isolated" in their problems or hopeless. But what I want more and what I've been trying to do this year is to see the viewers, the love for this city (Tirana) and for Albania in general. I am terrified every day by the bombing of news portals that focus only on the misfortunes of this country, despairing of tens of young people seeking to leave because they see no light at the end of the tunnel. All of us, including me, have been in a moment of debate with ourselves "to stay or to leave this place?" But I believe there is hope beyond the bitter truths that come to us from politics, chronicle and economy, it is enough to change our perception of ourselves and what we want.
