The United Nations Office on Crime and Drugs (UNODC) has recently compiled a report titled "Global Study on Gender-Based Murders for Women and Girls".
According to the graphs published in the report, it is noticed that our country has the highest number of murders by intimate partners (spouse, boyfriend). Thus, the majority of women's murders in Albania are carried out by their partners - in total, women's murders are 1 per 100 thousand.
Referring to global data, women killed by partners account for 58% of all murders reported last year.
- Violence -
According to INSTAT data, there is an increase in the number of reports of domestic violence. The Durres County (Durrës - Shijak - Kavajë) has the highest number of violated women.
Vlora region holds second place, followed by Tirana.
Cities with the lowest number of violence are Dibra and Kukës.
