Ever since the trailer was released, everyone knew that "Crazy Rich Asians" would be a success. The film appeared for the first time at US cinemas this weekend and not only met expectations but overcame it. For just two days, the movie won $ 25 million from selling tickets only to America.
"Crazy Rich Asians" speaks of an Asian-American woman, Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), who goes to Singapore to meet the family of loved ones. He understands that her beloved (Henry Golding) is the country's richest son, rich enough to be incredible. Rachel has to face the cultural companion he suffers, and especially with the next malignant mother-in-law.
For many, the success of this film marks the restoration of the romantic comedy era. With the presence of Netflix, Amazon and Hulu in the market, it has been difficult to produce movies that fill the full movie halls. Director Jon M. Chu and the book author based on the Kevin Cane scenario were faced with difficult choices between a major cinematic company such as the Warner Bros. or Netflix. They chose the Warner Bros. because it was important to display a completely Asian / British caste movie on the big screen.
This is the first time in 25 years that a movie has only Asian characters. The last of its kind was "The Joy Lucky Club". Diversity of caste was the main factor in the success of romantic comedy. People have seen love stories in hundreds of white crowd varieties, but narratives rarely take such a drastic turn.
Unfortunately, "Crazy Rich Asians" is not appearing in any of the cinemas in the country and the next few weeks will not appear.
