A tragic event has shocked the community on the outskirts of Athens, in the Menidi area. A 14-year-old girl, who Greek media reports is of Albanian origin, has lost her baby after she was allegedly severely raped by her mother.
According to reports, the teenager turned herself in to police, holding the fetus, wrapped in a newspaper, and filed a complaint against the mother. Authorities immediately arrested the mother, a 54-year-old woman, on charges of domestic violence and grievous bodily harm.
The minor girl has been taken to hospital for medical care and protection, as ordered by the prosecutor. Investigations are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances as police investigate suspicions of domestic violence and how the abortion was induced.
