The most commented series of the moment on the Netflix platform is undoubtedly "The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story", with an almost unbelievable story, full of confessions and terrible events. In one of the main roles is the actor Javier Bardem, who more accurately interprets Jose Menendez, the father of the two infamous brothers.
Javier, in an interview for "Variety", said that he understands the frustration of Erik Menendez, one of the brothers who is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of his parents in one of the prisons in San Diego.
"I know he reacted, but I haven't read exactly what. Of course, it is normal and logical to say what you think about your life by being part of this series. I support his criticism, but Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan the two directors had their own views on how to materialize this incredible story,” he says.
Cooper Koch, who plays the role of Erik Menéndez in the series, said that the reaction of one of the famous brothers has influenced quite a bit the way the role is perceived and the way everything is conveyed in the eyes of the public.
"I understand how difficult it is to have the worst part of your life televised to millions of people. It's so revealing. I understand how he feels and I stand by him in terms of his approach to this whole story. I just had to do more research and dig really deep into myself to portray him with integrity and as authentically as possible,” the actor expressed.
On the other hand, one of the directors, Ryan Murphy, has responded to Erik Menendez's criticisms by emphasizing the fact that if he were to look closely at the entire production, the vast majority of it is related to the terrible abuse that the brothers claim was done to them.
The series "The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story" tells the story of the murders and the trial, in which the Menendez brothers claim that they were sexually abused by their father (the prosecution called this a lie and said their motive was greed). However, this production has come under fire because it seems to imply that the brothers also had a sexual relationship with each other.
