The Delta variant is causing concern around the world, but how widespread is it in Europe?
The main focus of Delta variants in Europe is the United Kingdom, with over 90% of new Covid cases belonging to this variant. In continental Europe, cases are fewer, but the situation may change.
In France 2-4% of cases with Covid are with the Delta variant; in Germany the level is similar, 2.5%.
Will the Delta variant affect travel? If you are in a country with a not high level of cases, there are unlikely to be any restrictions. In a report in early June, the Institute of Public Health announced that no cases with this variant have been found in Albania.
However the WHO warned that this variant is becoming prevalent worldwide and advised people to respect anti-Covid measures when traveling.
