9 common clothing mistakes that make you look older

How do you feel when you look at the clothes you currently have in your closet? If they don't give you the feeling of "yes, this is me!", maybe it's time for a refresh. The clothing you choose not only affects how you feel about yourself, but also how the outside world perceives you.

If the clothes you wear are out of fashion or make you look older than you actually are, then you're missing out on the opportunity to reflect the freshest version of yourself. There's nothing wrong with following trends or experimenting with a more youthful style - the secret is to do it with confidence.

If you want to turn your closet into a good source of energy, here are some mistakes that you should avoid immediately, because they are silently "aging" you:

1. Thin, flesh-colored tights

Once a staple for women, they're now synonymous with unforgivable clothing. Instead, use a leg spray tanner or simply choose outfits that don't necessarily require these tights. If you have to wear them, opt for dark-colored or patterned versions—at least they look more "2025."

2. Head to toe in black, without a single drop of color

We know: black is classic, elegant and “slimming”. But if you combine it only with yourself, the result is monotonous and lifeless. Make a difference with a yellow bag, a pair of red earrings or a belt that catches your eye – the effect is immediately fresher.

3. Visible underwear lines

It has more to do with attention to detail than age, but ironically, younger people usually care more. Any pattern that "disappears" under clothes is your salvation, not the other way around.

4. Comfortable, but visually "scary" shoes

Yes, Crocs are comfortable – but they’ve also made the list of “controversial fashion staples.” Choose wisely, especially when it comes to events or going out. You may feel good, but make sure you look good too.

5. Pastel colors in excess

Pastel colors are sweet and vibrant, but when you wear them all together, the effect is overwhelming. One pastel + one neutral = perfect balance.

6. Large floral prints

Floral prints are always "in fashion," but the detail that makes the difference is size. Big flowers = woman 60+. Choose smaller, more refined flowers, or replace them with animal prints, gingham, and others.

7. Thick horizontal lines

These are synonymous with: “make me look wider and more tired.” For a visually lengthening effect, switch to vertical stripes – they slim you down and make you look more elegant.

8. Bras that don't fit you anymore

Your body changes over time – if your bra doesn't support you where it should, then your other clothes won't look good. Get a professional fitting or experiment with sizes yourself until you feel comfortable and fit.

9. All loose clothes at once

Oversized is cool , but only when it's balanced. If you have an oversized sweater, pair it with skinny jeans. If you have baggy pants, choose a simple, tight top. Don't hide your body, show it off with style.
