7 food combinations you should never put next to each other

There are some foods that we just can not imagine separated from each other, such as cucumber and tomato. Can it taste the same as a salad if it has cucumber and not tomato? We are not sure, but you can change your mind after this article. Although there are products that combine wonderfully well with each other, they can not resist together when it comes to storing them in the refrigerator. 

Therefore, there are some food combinations that you should not do together, unless you are going to consume them quickly.

1. Apples and carrots

Apples produce a lot of ethylene, so great care must be taken when placing them in a place with other foods. Especially do not put them near carrots, as it is likely that within 2 weeks the taste of carrots will be more bitter than necessary.

2. Cucumbers and tomatoes

Cucumbers are very sensitive to ethylene (a gaseous plant hormone. Its purpose is to regulate the chemical processes associated with the aging and maturation of flowers, fruits and vegetables, therefore otherwise known as plant aging hormone), so it is good. not to be placed near tomatoes. Otherwise, the cucumbers will start to turn yellow earlier than they should. It is best to store them in the refrigerator while the tomatoes are away.

3. Onions and potatoes

Onions absorb moisture quickly, but in fact it is best to stay dry. Potatoes, on the other hand, emit a lot of moisture, so they can not "coexist" next to each other. 

4. Bananas and avocados

This is a bit tricky as it depends on your purpose. If the avocado is overripe, then keep it away from the bananas. However, if you want it to ripen even faster, then you can safely put an unripe avocado in a paper bag and store it next to the bananas.

5. Bananas and peaches

Roasted peaches should stay away from bananas as the ethylene contained in them will make the peaches ripen even faster than they should. The more ripe the banana, the more gas will be released.

6. Grapes and mangoes

Grapes are very delicate when it comes to preserving them. They do not tolerate any kind of fruit or vegetable near themselves. Mangoes especially give a lot of ethylene making it ripen faster than normal process. On the other hand, vegetables with strong aromas should stay far away from grapes, as the latter quickly absorbs aromas.

7. Blueberries and strawberries

If you store them in a place next to each other they will break down much faster than you thought. Or if you do, it is best to consume them within a few days.
