Traveling with an acquaintance, friend or partner is a way to get to know the other in another aspect. But if you have similar travel styles, chances are everything will go according to plan. The situation changes when you don't match in your approaches to how to enjoy travel, places, restaurants, etc. This will bring conflict between you.
How do you know that you are not compatible with the other person with whom you have chosen to spend the holidays? Here are some telltale signs!
#1 One is a planner and the other enjoys the moment
If you travel with a person who requires a well-thought-out plan and another who adapts to everything, you will surely have "turbulence" in enjoying these days. "If you like to have a flexible itinerary and are open to spontaneous changes in plans, while your partner prefers a more structured and organized approach, this can lead to resentment and conflict," says travel blogger Sean Wash off.
#2 One wakes up early and the other likes to sleep in
Having conflicting sleep schedules can create "friction" when traveling together. A morning person may wake up early, eager to start the day, while others skip morning activities to enjoy more morning sleep. For example, if you want to get up early and walk around the city, but your partner is hungry because he slept late the night before, this can be a problem and a sign of incompatibility.
#3 One likes adventures and the other likes quiet trips
Having different comfort levels when it comes to physical activity and nature can make it harder to find mutually enjoyable things. Some people want to fill their days with lots of new experiences, while others may be looking for more free activities that don't require schedules, physical involvement but just something relaxing. If you take this approach, you're bound to have crashes.
#4 One of you spends a lot of money and the other is frugal
Having different priorities around money can be a huge source of conflict when you travel. Problems tend to arise when one person wants to splurge and have a more luxurious experience and the other person wants to save some money wherever possible. If you want to go to an expensive restaurant and stay in luxury hotels, while your travel partner wants to drink something in the room, one of you will not feel good at all.
