If there are three Albanian cities, the inhabitants of which travel the most are: Tirana, Fieri and Gjirokastra.
According to INSTAT data, published in Monitor.al, in Fier, households spent 7.6% of total expenditures on travel, in Gjirokastra they spent 6.8% of the budget on transport services and for Tirana families this indicator was 6.5%.
In contrast, lower transport costs were observed in Elbasan, Vlora, Lezha and Durres. If we make a comparison with European countries, the income that Albanians spend to travel is very low, of course this for the major reason, which is economic impossibility.
Families in the EU spend 13.4% of their budget on travel, twice as much as families in Albania. Unlike European countries, Albanians make the most frequent trips for work-related vital needs.
The highest share of transport expenditures was recorded in the budget structure of households consisting of three or more adults, without and with children, 6.5 and 6.4%, respectively.
In this study, INSTAT has classified as transportation costs the purchase of new and used cars, taxi costs, plane tickets, all types of tickets, costs for oil, gas, spare parts, repairs, etc.
