Maybe you know what to order when it comes to coffee, but you may be more unsure when it comes to skin type. In addition to a visit to the dermatologist, there are two tests through which you can understand the skin type.
Daily test
“The easiest way to determine your skin type is to see how it appears from morning to evening on a normal day,” says Melanie Palm, dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon.
Is the skin oily and looks shiny? If so, you have a greasy face. Does it shine only in the chin, nose and forehead area, but the rest is dull? If so, you have combination skin. Do you have little fat, minimal redness or not at all? If so, you have normal skin. If your skin feels taut and like peeling, then it is dry. If you feel itching, redness and inflammation you have sensitive skin.
Washing test
At any time, you can try to evaluate the skin. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and do not apply any products or makeup. Wait 30 minutes and examine how the skin feels. Do this test when your face feels relatively calm, which means it is not red or hot after running or after any other activity.
If you have difficulty identifying your skin type, you should probably contact your dermatologist for a proper test.
