Akademia e Oscars ka shpallur listën me pretendendët kryesorë për t’u nominuar në kategoritë e mëposhtme. Filmi shqiptar “Zana”, propozimi i Kosovës në kategorinë “International Feature Film”, ndonëse kishte mundësi për t’u përzgjedhur në fazën tjetër, nuk mundi të kualifikohej. Theksojmë se lista e mëposhtme, siguruar nga Variety, është thjesht një përzgjedhje paraprake me pretendët kryesorë për nëntë kategoritë e mëposhtme:
